Why We Love This Coffee

Some coffees catch your attention because of what's in the cup. Others because of the people behind them. Hoja Blanca gave us both.

What makes Hoja Blanca especially meaningful is that it represents the work of seven farming families in the mountains of Huehuetenango. Rather than celebrating one individual producer, this coffee is the result of neighbors working together, combining their harvests to create something greater than any one farm could produce alone. We love that picture of collaboration because it reminds us that some of the best things are built together.

We discovered this coffee through our friends at Collaborative Origins Imports, whose commitment to building genuine, long-term relationships with coffee producers is one of the reasons we've trusted them for years. They don't simply source coffee—they invest in people, visit farms, and work alongside producers to build partnerships that last. That's exactly the kind of supply chain we want to support at Brothers.

Then we tasted it.

The first sip was full of vibrant strawberry, juicy peach, and a lingering honey-like sweetness. Most washed Guatemalan coffees are chocolate forward with some citrus notes, but these coffee growers produced something truly exceptional and unique. It's lively without being overwhelming, delicate without feeling thin, and approachable enough for someone new to specialty coffee.

How We Brew It

Hoja Blanca shines when brewed to highlight its vibrant fruit and honey-like sweetness. We prefer a clean, balanced extraction that lets its delicate character take center stage.

Brewing Tip

If the cup tastes a little tart, grind slightly finer to bring out more sweetness. If the fruit starts to taste muted or heavy, grind a little coarser. When it's dialed in, you should find a cup that's juicy, honey-sweet, and full of fresh strawberry and peach.
